On the surface, most Cetina rafting tours look similar. The differences that change whether you have a great day are licensing, group size, guide experience, equipment age, and what's actually included in the headline price.
Licensing & insurance
Croatian Ministry of Tourism licence, ABTA Bonded, IRF and HGSS-trained guides. Activity insurance for every passenger.
Group size
Small groups per raft. Bigger groups mean less guide attention and longer waits at jump spots.
Guide experience
Years on the river matter more than certificates alone. Malduk's founder Dado has guided the Cetina since 2003.
What's included
Headline price should cover guide, full kit, insurance, parking, photos and shuttle. Watch for "extras" added at the meeting point.
Photo costs
Many operators charge €20–€30 for tour photos. Malduk publishes them free to @canyoningcetina the same day.
Reviews that name guides
The strongest signal of consistent quality. Look for repeated guide names — Dado, Toni, Ante, Petar, Eva — across reviews.
What Cetina rafting is actually like
The route covers 10 km of limestone canyon, divided into three sections with three breaks of 10–15 minutes for swimming, cliff jumping and rest. The day alternates between gentle drifting through 180-metre cliff walls and rapids — Class I–II in summer, Class II–III in spring — enough to be thrilling without being frightening for first-timers.
Mid-route there's a short 5–10 minute walk between sections, where the river is too technical for beginners and your guide takes the raft through alone. You'll find a swim under a small waterfall, cliff jumping spots, and clear emerald pools. Water temperature ranges 14–17°C.
Compared to other Split-area day trips: a Blue Cave boat tour is more crowded and more passive, sea kayaking is calmer and shorter, and a Krka National Park trip is longer but you walk more than you swim. Cetina rafting is the most active 2.5 hours on water you can have leaving from Split.

Every participant wears a fitted helmet and EU-certified life jacket, and your IRF/HGSS-trained guide handles all the navigation.
What is the minimum age for Cetina rafting?
The minimum age is 5. Parents always sit in the same raft as their children, and the activity is rated level 2–3 — basic mobility and a willingness to get wet, but no special fitness required.
How long does the rafting tour take?
About 2.5 hours on the water for the 10 km route, with three 10–15 minute breaks for swimming and cliff jumping. From check-in to drop-off allow 4–5 hours total — or 5–6 hours including the Split transfer.
Where is the meeting point?
The meeting point is 5 km from Omiš centre, in front of the Radmanove Mlinice restaurant. Free parking, and the team picks you up from there to drive to the rafting start point. Look for guides in Malduk Adventures T-shirts near the small bridge — there's only one bridge, so you can't miss it. GPS coordinates are sent with your booking confirmation.

Only if you don't have a car — the meeting point at Radmanove Mlinice is 30 minutes from Split and isn't reachable by public bus. Malduk's optional Split transfer is from €25/person round trip. Self-drivers get free parking at the meeting point and a return shuttle to their car.
Can I book Cetina rafting last minute?
Yes. Same-day and next-day bookings are usually available April through October, especially for the 13:30 afternoon departure. Direct booking via maldukadventures.com is confirmed within a few hours by email or WhatsApp. Or message us on WhatsApp directly to check availability instantly.
What time do tours depart?
Departures are at 08:00 and 13:30 in peak season (May–September), and 12:00 in the off-season shoulder months (April and October). Arrive at least 15 minutes before departure.
Do I get photos from the tour?
Yes — and they're free. Your guide takes photos throughout the tour and Malduk publishes them to the @canyoningcetina Instagram profile by the end of the day. Many other operators charge €20–€30 for tour photos; this is included in the €40.
What should I bring rafting?
A swimsuit, water shoes or old trainers (no flip-flops), a towel, sun cream, a bottle of water, and a change of clothes for after. Leave valuables at your accommodation — Malduk provides dry barrels for phones and keys, but it's better to travel light.
What's the difference between rafting and canyoning on the Cetina?
Rafting is in a raft on the river, mostly seated, suitable for ages 5+. Canyoning is on foot in the canyon — swimming, scrambling, jumping into pools — for ages 8+ and physically more demanding. Rafting is the better introduction. Canyoning is the bigger adrenaline day. Many guests do both during a multi-day visit.
Is rafting better in the morning or afternoon?
Morning (08:00) is cooler, quieter on the river and better for photos with low-angle light. Afternoon (13:30) is warmer for swimming. In July and August, mornings are noticeably more comfortable. From mid-September onwards, the 12:00 off-season slot is the most pleasant.
What happens if the weather is bad?
Light rain doesn't cancel the tour — you're already getting wet. If conditions become unsafe (heavy storms, dangerously high water), Malduk will reschedule or refund in full. Decisions are made on the morning of the tour based on river conditions.
Is rafting on the Cetina worth it?
If you're spending more than two days near Split and want one outdoor activity that delivers, yes. The 180-metre canyon walls, three swim stops and cliff jumping are difficult to match in 2.5 hours anywhere on the Dalmatian coast — and the price-to-experience ratio is unusually strong. 170+ five-star Google reviews and 2,000+ guests guided.
How does Cetina rafting compare to other Split-area activities?
It's the most active half-day on water from Split. A Blue Cave boat tour is more passive and more crowded; sea kayaking is calmer and shorter; a Krka National Park day trip is longer with more walking than swimming. Rafting delivers canyon scenery, swimming, mild adrenaline and a small-group feel in a single 2.5-hour window — and you're back in Split for dinner.
