Kayak, Hike & Sail is a five-day women-only active holiday based in Omiš, 25 km south of Split, run by Malduk Adventures. Last updated: 4 September 2026 · Operated by Malduk Adventures, Omiš, Croatia — licensed since 2014

Paddle a river into the sea. Hike above the coast. Sail to Brač.

This five-day women-only holiday brings together three completely different sides of Dalmatia while keeping one comfortable base in the heart of Omiš. Four nights at Hotel Plaža Omiš, a kayak from the Cetina River into the Adriatic, a hike through the mountains overlooking the sea, and a private half-day sail to finish.

Active — but with plenty of time left for beaches, long Croatian evenings and getting to know the women you're travelling with. Every activity is a morning or a half-day, so no afternoon is spoken for.

It's hosted by Eva Piperevska and Marinela Brzović, who has guided adventure activities in the Omiš and Cetina area since 2013. Malduk Adventures is a licensed operator based in Omiš since 2014, with over 200 five-star Google reviews and more than 2,000 guests guided.

Why you'll love this trip

River, mountains & sea

Three completely different days: kayak from river to sea, hike high above the coastline, then sail out towards Brač. Same base, three versions of Dalmatia.

A private boat, not a shared one

The sailing day is a private sailboat with a skipper for your group alone — anchored in a quiet cove, not queuing at a party beach.

Four-star, beside the beach

Four nights at Hotel Plaža Omiš, steps from the sand and the old town. Walk out of the door and you're already somewhere worth being.

Six women, two local hosts

Small enough that you'll know everyone by the second morning, and hosted by two women who live here rather than a rotating tour leader.

Your 5-day itinerary

Arrival on day 1, three activity days, departure on day 5. Every activity finishes by early afternoon, so the rest of each day is yours.

Welcome to your home on the Croatian coast. After arriving in Omiš, check into Hotel Plaža Omiš ★★★★, beside the town's main sandy beach and a short walk from the old town.

Settle into your room and spend the rest of the day at your own pace. Swim in the Adriatic. Explore the narrow old streets. Find a table overlooking the river. Or simply recover from the journey.

You'll meet Eva, Marinela and the rest of the group before the adventures begin.

4★ Hotel Plaža Omiš Meals: none

Our first adventure starts on the calm lower section of the Cetina. Once everyone is comfortable in the kayaks, we paddle downstream between the mountains towards Omiš.

We pass through town and continue straight out of the river into the Adriatic. From there we follow the coast to a shallow shipwreck and stop to swim and snorkel in clear water.

It's an easy introduction to the trip and needs no previous kayaking experience. The rest of the day is free.

Kayaking & snorkelling · easy · no experience needed Meals: Breakfast

Today we trade paddles for hiking shoes. The mountains rise almost directly from the coastline around Omiš, so you don't have to travel far to find spectacular terrain.

We follow a guided route through the Mediterranean landscape above town — rocky peaks, pine, wild herbs, and views stretching across the Adriatic and its islands.

We hike as a group and stop at viewpoints rather than treating the trail like a race. This is the most physically active day of the trip, but no technical hiking experience is required. Back in Omiš, the afternoon and evening are yours.

Guided hiking · moderate · rocky Mediterranean trails Meals: Breakfast

For the final adventure we leave dry land behind. After breakfast we walk to the boat in Omiš, meet the skipper and head out onto the Adriatic.

The four-hour sail takes us from Omiš towards a secluded cove on the island of Brač — about an hour across before dropping anchor. Then there's nowhere anyone needs to be. For roughly two hours: swim in clear water, take the snorkelling gear, try the stand-up paddleboard, or just sit on deck. A Dalmatian snack and drinks are served aboard.

We raise anchor and sail back to Omiš for around lunchtime, which leaves the whole afternoon free for a last beach day, shopping or the old town.

Private sailing · 4 hours · typically 09:00–13:00 Meals: Breakfast + snack & drinks aboard

A last breakfast together and a final morning beside the Adriatic. Maybe one more swim, maybe coffee in the old town — or maybe everyone is already arguing about where the next trip should be.

After breakfast, check out of Hotel Plaža and say goodbye to Omiš. You'll have seen Croatia from its river, its mountains and its sea, and found that travelling solo doesn't have to mean travelling alone.

Your half-day sailing experience

The sailing day runs aboard Nana, a private sailboat reserved for the group — not a shared excursion. We take the Morning Glow route from Omiš towards Brač, reaching a secluded cove after about an hour, with roughly two hours at anchor to swim, snorkel, paddleboard and do nothing at all before sailing back.

What it costs

The 2027 trip costs €710 to €970 per person sharing a twin room, depending on the month. That covers four nights bed and breakfast at the 4★ Hotel Plaža Omiš, guided kayaking and snorkelling, guided hiking, the private four-hour sail with skipper including snack and drinks aboard, all equipment, activity transfers and insurance during the guided activities.

Sharing, or a room of your own

The headline price is for two women sharing a twin. Coming alone, we pair you with another solo guest wherever we can, and in that case you pay the twin-share price with no supplement. If you'd rather have your own room, single occupancy is available on request subject to availability, at the single price above.

What to budget on top

Flights, airport transfers, lunches and evening meals (roughly €15–€30 a head in Omiš) and drinks ashore. A private airport transfer from Split can be arranged on request.

Who is this trip for?

Women who want to be active while still feeling like they're on holiday. You don't need kayaking, sailing or technical hiking experience. You do need a reasonable level of general fitness, comfortable walking shoes and a willingness to spend a few days outside.

It suits women travelling solo, friends travelling together, first-time active travellers, and anyone who wants Croatia beyond beaches and sightseeing.

Who it doesn't suit: anyone looking for adrenaline. There's no whitewater and no canyoning here — for that, take the women-only kayak, raft & canyon trip instead.

You don't have to be the fastest hiker. You don't have to know how to sail. And you definitely don't need to arrive knowing anyone.

Guides, safety and what's required

Nothing on this trip is technical, but everything is guided. The kayaking runs with local guides and full safety equipment, the hike is led on marked Mediterranean trails at the group's pace, and the boat is handled by a professional skipper throughout.

Your guides

Local professionals who work this coast all season. Malduk Adventures is a licensed Croatian operator, its guides are registered with HGSS, the Croatian Mountain Rescue Service, and Marinela has guided here since 2013.

Equipment

Kayaks, buoyancy aids and all safety equipment are EU CE certified and included, as are snorkelling gear and the paddleboard on the sailing day. Bring your own walking shoes; everything else is provided.

In the water

You'll be in the sea on two days — snorkelling on the kayak day and swimming off the boat. You should be comfortable in open water. If you'd rather stay aboard or in the kayak, that's genuinely fine.

Nothing is compulsory

Sitting out a day is allowed and nobody will make it awkward. Omiš is a good place to have a morning off, and the hotel is a two-minute walk from the beach.

Which month?

April & May — greenest hiking, quietest town, cooler swimming off the boat.

June & September — the balance. Warm sea, comfortable hiking, 25–28°C, far fewer people.

July & August — hottest, which makes the hike harder work and the sailing day glorious.

Frequently asked questions

€710 to €970 per person sharing a twin room: April from €710, May from €786, June and September from €886, July and August from €970. Single rooms are €802, €914, €1,142 and €1,258 for those months, on request. That covers four nights B&B at the 4★ Hotel Plaža Omiš, all three guided activities, the private sail with skipper including snack and drinks aboard, equipment, transfers and activity insurance.

Yes, and most guests do. The group is capped at six, so nobody disappears into the back of a coach party. Everyone paddles, hikes, sails and eats breakfast together from day one, which makes arriving alone the normal way to arrive rather than the awkward one.

A maximum of six, set by the private sailboat on day four, and a minimum of three for a departure to run. Six is deliberately small: it's the difference between sailing on a private boat with your group and sharing a bigger boat with strangers.

No. The kayaking is on the calm lower Cetina and is taught from the beginning. The hike needs no technical skill, only general fitness and comfortable shoes. On the sailing day a skipper handles the boat — you can help or simply sit back.

A reasonable level of general fitness. Kayaking and sailing are easy days. The hike on day three is the demanding one, on rocky Mediterranean trails, and it's walked as a group with stops at viewpoints rather than as a race. If you can walk a few hours on uneven ground, you'll be fine.

Four hours, typically 09:00 to 13:00, on a private sailboat with a skipper. Roughly an hour sailing from Omiš to a secluded cove on Brač, about two hours at anchor to swim, snorkel and try the paddleboard, then the sail back. A Dalmatian snack, wine, beer, juices and water are included aboard, along with SUP and snorkelling equipment. You're back around lunchtime with the whole afternoon free.

All four nights at Hotel Plaža Omiš, a four-star hotel in central Omiš beside the sea and the Cetina River, directly next to the town's main sandy beach and a short walk from the old town. Breakfast is included every morning.

Breakfast every morning, plus a Dalmatian snack and drinks aboard the boat on the sailing day. Lunches and evening meals are otherwise your own, which leaves you free to eat where you like — Omiš has a good range of restaurants within walking distance of the hotel, at local rather than Split prices.

Both are five days from the same hotel in Omiš and both kayak the Cetina to the sea. This one swaps rafting and canyoning for hiking above the coast and a private half-day sail to Brač — gentler on adrenaline, stronger on views, water and free time — and caps at six guests because of the boat. Choose this for scenery and space; choose the other one for whitewater and canyons.

Split Airport (SPU) — about 50 km and an hour from Omiš, with seasonal direct flights from most major UK and Irish airports between April and October. Zadar is roughly 140 km away and Dubrovnik roughly 230 km. Airport transfers aren't included as standard but can be arranged on request.

June and September are the best balance: the sea is warm enough to swim off the boat, air temperatures sit around 25–28°C, and the hiking is comfortable. Late April and May are greener and quieter with cooler swimming. July and August are hottest, which makes the hiking day harder work and the sailing day glorious.

No. Solo guests are paired in a twin with another solo traveller of the same gender wherever possible, and in that case no single supplement applies. If you'd rather have your own room, single occupancy is available on request subject to availability.

The sailing day depends on wind and sea state and the skipper makes that call on the morning. If it can't run safely we move it to another day where possible, substitute an alternative of equivalent value, or refund that activity. The hike and the kayak are rarely stopped by light rain, though a route may change for safety.

Comfortable walking or hiking shoes with grip for the rocky trails, water shoes or sandals, swimwear, a towel, a small backpack or dry bag, sun hat and sunglasses, sunscreen and lip balm, a refillable water bottle and any personal medication. Kayaking and snorkelling equipment is provided.
