It is built for solo female travellers and friends travelling together; no previous experience is required, though you need to be able to swim. Last updated: 23 August 2026 · Operated by Malduk Adventures, Omiš, Croatia — licensed since 2014

Five days. Three adventures. One corner of Croatia.

Join a small group of women for an active escape on Croatia's Dalmatian coast, combining kayaking, whitewater rafting and canyoning with four nights in the heart of Omiš.

It's designed for women travelling solo or with friends, and it isn't a holiday where you need to arrive knowing anyone — or with years of outdoor experience behind you. Most guests book alone and have never done at least one of the three activities.

Everything happens within half an hour of the hotel, so no day is lost to travel and you unpack once. We take care of the details. You just need to be ready to get outside.

Why you'll love this trip

Kayak, raft & canyon

Paddle from the Cetina River into the Adriatic, take on Class II–III rapids, and go deep inside the Cetina canyon — three ways to see the same river.

Stay in the heart of Omiš

A four-star hotel beside the main sandy beach, walking distance from the old town, the restaurants and the sea. Free afternoons need no planning.

A small group of women

Come alone or bring a friend. The format is built to be relaxed and supportive, so arriving on your own is the norm rather than the exception.

Hosted by locals

Eva lives in the area, and Marinela has been guiding adventure activities on the Cetina since 2013. Both are with the group all week.

Your 5-day itinerary

Arrival on day 1, three activity days, departure on day 5. Your hosts may reorder the activities depending on river level and weather.

Welcome to Dalmatia. Arrive in Omiš and check into Hotel Plaža Omiš, your home for the next four nights.

The hotel couldn't be much better positioned for this trip: you're beside the sea, the Cetina River and the main sandy beach, with the historic old town a short walk away. Settle in, explore the old town, head to the beach or simply do nothing.

You'll also meet your hosts and the other women joining the trip. Tomorrow, we get on the water.

4★ Hotel Plaža Omiš Meals: none

Our first adventure starts on the Cetina. After breakfast we head to the water, get comfortable in the kayaks and begin paddling downstream towards Omiš.

Mountains rise around the river as we approach town, and then the scenery changes completely — we leave the river behind and paddle straight into the Adriatic. From there we follow the coastline to a shipwreck lying about three metres below the surface, and stop to swim and snorkel in clear water before getting back into the kayaks.

No previous kayaking experience is required. The afternoon is yours: lunch in Omiš, a beach, or the old town.

Kayaking & snorkelling · easy · no experience needed Meals: Breakfast

Today we head further into the Cetina canyon. After meeting the rafting guides and a safety briefing, we set off on roughly 10 km of river.

The route mixes peaceful stretches through untouched nature with Class II–III rapids. We stop along the way to swim, take breaks and — if you want it — jump from the cliffs, before finishing at Radmanove Mlinice.

No rafting experience is necessary. Your guides teach you everything you need before you get on the river.

~10 km · 2.5–3 hours · Class II–III Meals: Breakfast

We've paddled the Cetina. We've rafted it. Now we're getting inside it.

This is the most adventurous day: swimming, walking, climbing over rocks and working through natural pools and waterfalls. Equipped with wetsuits, helmets and safety gear, we follow our guides into a part of the canyon you can't reach from the road or an ordinary hiking trail.

There are opportunities to jump along the route, but jumps are optional. No pressure and no competition. The point is to experience the canyon and have a lot of fun doing it.

Basic canyoning · ~4 hours incl. preparation · swimming required Meals: Breakfast

Breakfast and a final morning in Omiš. Walk along the beach, get a coffee in the old town, or fit in one last swim before checking out.

Five days ago you arrived in Omiš. Now you're leaving having kayaked from river to sea, rafted the Cetina canyon and been inside the canyon itself — with a group of women who were strangers a few days earlier.

What it costs

The 2027 women-only trip costs €746 to €930 per person sharing a twin room, depending on the month. That covers four nights bed and breakfast at the 4★ Hotel Plaža Omiš, all three guided activities with equipment, transfers to every activity, insurance during the activities, and photos from selected days.

July & AugustFrom €930€1,218Warmest sea, hottest days, peak hotel rates

Sharing, or a room of your own

The headline price is for two women sharing a twin room. If you're coming alone we'll pair you with another solo guest wherever we can, and in that case you pay the twin-share price with no supplement. If you'd rather have your own room, single occupancy is available on request subject to availability, at the single price above.

Getting there

A private airport transfer from Split Airport costs €80 per person return and can be added to any booking. It isn't compulsory — the airport shuttle bus into Split is around €8 — but for an arrival with luggage it's the simplest option. Budget separately for flights, lunches, evening meals (roughly €15–€30 a head in Omiš) and drinks.

Who is this for?

You don't need to call yourself an "adventurer" to join. This trip is for women who enjoy being outdoors, want to experience Croatia actively, and like the idea of travelling with a small group rather than doing everything alone. It suits solo female travellers, friends travelling together, and women trying adventure activities for the first time.

You should be comfortable swimming and have a reasonable level of general fitness. No previous kayaking, rafting or canyoning experience is required.

Who it doesn't suit: non-swimmers, and anyone wanting a beach holiday with one activity attached. Three activity days in four nights is the shape of this trip.

Come solo. Leave with stories — and probably a few new friends.

Safety, guides and what's required

Is canyoning in Croatia safe? It's a genuine adventure activity with real hazards — moving water, drops, cold — and it's run as a guided, equipped, briefed activity for exactly that reason. Nobody moves through the canyon unguided, every guest wears a wetsuit, helmet and safety equipment, and the activity is rerouted or stopped when water levels make it unsafe. That call is made on the morning, not the week before. Jumps are optional on every route.

Your guides

Local professionals who work this river all season. Rafting guides hold International Rafting Federation (IRF) certification and the team is registered with HGSS, the Croatian Mountain Rescue Service — the people who would carry out an actual rescue in this canyon.

Equipment

All technical and safety equipment is EU CE and UIAA certified and included: wetsuits, helmets, buoyancy aids, kayaks and rafting gear. Nothing needs to be bought or hired locally.

Swimming — the one hard rule

Basic swimming ability is required. The canyoning route crosses deep pools that can't be walked around, so non-swimmers can't take part in that day. You don't need to be fast or strong — comfortable in deep water is the standard.

Nothing is compulsory

Cliff jumps on the rafting day and jumps in the canyon are always optional, and plenty of guests skip them. If a day doesn't suit you, sitting it out is fine — Omiš is a good place to have a morning off.

Where you'll stay

Hotel Plaža Omiš ★★★★

All four nights are at Hotel Plaža Omiš, a four-star hotel in one of the best positions in town — right beside the main sandy beach, close to the Cetina River and within easy walking distance of the historic old town.

That means once the day's adventure is over, you don't need another itinerary. Walk to the beach. Wander into town. Find a restaurant, or have a coffee beside the river. Comfortable rooms and breakfast give you an easy base to come back to between adventures. Four nights and breakfast are included.

Which month?

April & May — the highest water on the Cetina and the best rafting of the year, quiet town, cooler swimming.

June & September — the balance point. Warm sea, lively river, 25–28°C, and far fewer people than high summer.

July & August — hottest and busiest, warmest sea, gentlest river.

Frequently asked questions

Yes — the trip is built around it. Most guests book alone and arrive not knowing anyone. Everyone paddles, eats and travels together from day one, so you're not walking into a group of existing friends. Booking with a friend works equally well.

€746 to €930 per person sharing a twin room, depending on the month: May from €746, June and September from €846, July and August from €930. Single rooms are €874, €1,102 and €1,218 for the same months, on request. That covers four nights B&B at the 4★ Hotel Plaža Omiš, three guided activities with all equipment, transfers to every activity, activity insurance and photos. April 2027 pricing is on request.

You don't have to share, and you don't have to pay extra if you don't mind. The headline price is for two women sharing a twin. Booking alone, we pair you with another solo guest where possible and you pay the twin-share price with no supplement. If you'd rather have your own room, single occupancy is available on request subject to availability, at the single price for that month.

It's a small group, and a departure runs from a minimum of 2 participants — so a date won't be cancelled underneath you just because it hasn't filled. Two friends booking together are enough to make it go.

No. All three activities run at beginner level, and each starts with a briefing and technique instruction from your guide. Many guests are trying at least one of them for the first time. The only requirements are swimming ability and a reasonable level of general fitness.

Yes. The canyoning day crosses deep pools that can't be walked around, so basic swimming ability is required and non-swimmers can't take part. You don't need to be a strong or fast swimmer — comfortable in deep water is the standard.

A reasonable level of general fitness. Kayaking is an easy day, rafting is easy to moderate, and canyoning is the hardest — roughly four hours of walking, swimming and scrambling with breaks. If you can walk for a few hours and swim comfortably, you can do this trip. There's no pace to keep up with, and jumps are always optional.

All four nights are at Hotel Plaža Omiš, a four-star hotel beside the main sandy beach, a short walk from the old town and the Cetina River. Breakfast is included. Because the hotel is in the middle of town, your free afternoons need no further planning.

Breakfast every morning is included. Lunches and evening meals aren't, which leaves you free to eat where you like — Omiš has a wide range of restaurants within walking distance of the hotel, at local rather than Split prices.

It's a genuine adventure activity run under conditions designed for its hazards. Nobody moves through the canyon unguided, every guest wears a wetsuit, helmet and safety equipment, and the activity is rerouted or stopped when water levels make it unsafe. Jumps are optional throughout. Our guides are local professionals who work this canyon all season, IRF-certified for rafting and registered with HGSS, the Croatian Mountain Rescue Service.

Eva Piperevska, who lives locally and organises the trip from arrival to departure, and Marinela Brzović, a local adventure guide who has been guiding in the Omiš and Cetina area since 2013. Both are with the group throughout the week.

Split Airport (SPU) — about 50 km and an hour from Omiš, with seasonal direct flights from most major UK and Irish airports between April and October. Zadar is roughly 140 km away and Dubrovnik roughly 230 km. Airport transfers aren't included in the trip price, but we can arrange a private return transfer from Split Airport for €80 per person. The airport shuttle bus into Split is around €8 if you'd rather make your own way.

June and September are the best balance — warm sea, a lively river, 25–28°C and a much quieter town. Late April and May bring the highest water on the Cetina and the best rafting, with cooler swimming. July and August are hottest and busiest, with the warmest sea and the gentlest river.

Three differences. The group is women only and hosted by two women all week. The accommodation is the four-star Hotel Plaža Omiš rather than a three-star hotel or apartment. And the order is kayaking, then rafting, then canyoning, easing into the week instead of starting on the river. The mixed 5-day trip runs the same three activities from the same base.

Your guide decides each morning, based mainly on river level rather than rain — light rain rarely stops anything and you're getting wet anyway. If an activity can't run safely we move it to another day of the trip where possible, or substitute an alternative of equivalent value. If neither works, that activity is refunded.

Trainers or hiking shoes, water shoes or sandals, swimwear, a towel, a small backpack or dry bag, sun hat and sunglasses, sunscreen and lip balm, and any personal medication. All technical and safety equipment for the three activities is provided, including wetsuits and helmets.
