Why Our Trips Are Different
Best Time to Visit Croatia for an Adventure Holiday
Adventure season in Croatia runs from April to October, and each month offers something different.
Getting to Croatia
Planning Your Croatia Adventure Holiday from the UK
Croatia is one of the easiest European adventure destinations to reach from the UK — with direct flights, no visa requirements, and a team that handles everything from the moment you land.
Split Airport (SPU) is served by direct flights from across the UK, with journey times of just 2 to 2.5 hours. From Split, Omiš is just 25km south — a 30-minute drive — which means you can be on the Cetina River or the Adriatic coast within an hour of landing. Our team handles the transfer, so there's no stress with taxis or buses.
UK citizens do not require a visa for Croatia for stays of up to 90 days — a valid UK passport is all you need. Croatia uses the Euro (€), and the Dalmatian coast is generally more affordable than comparable Mediterranean destinations in peak season.
Croatia is 1 hour ahead of UK time (CET), so there's minimal jet lag to deal with. The adventure season runs from April through October, with May–June and September offering the best combination of good weather, manageable crowd levels, and excellent river conditions for rafting and canyoning.

Frequently Asked Questions — Croatia Adventure Holidays
Everything you need to know before booking a multi-day tour with Malduk Adventures.
May, June, and September are the best months for an adventure holiday in Croatia. You get warm weather, calmer rivers ideal for rafting and kayaking, and far fewer crowds than peak summer. September is particularly great — the sea stays warm for swimming and prices ease off. July and August are peak season: brilliant, but busy.
Central Dalmatia — specifically the area around Omiš and the Cetina River — is the best base for adventure activities in Croatia. It combines Europe's most accessible whitewater rafting, dramatic canyoning gorges, and sea kayaking on the Adriatic, all within a 25km radius of Split Airport. It's less crowded than Dubrovnik and far more active than Hvar.
Five to seven days is the ideal length for a multi-activity adventure holiday in Croatia. Our 5-day package covers rafting, canyoning, and sea kayaking — perfect if your time is limited. The 7-day tour adds zipline and hiking and gives you a free afternoon to explore Split's UNESCO Old Town. Both are fully all-inclusive.
Flights from the UK to Split Airport (SPU) take approximately 2 to 2.5 hours. Direct routes operate from London Gatwick, London Stansted, Manchester, Birmingham, Bristol, and Edinburgh with airlines including easyJet, Ryanair, Jet2, British Airways, and Wizz Air. Most UK travellers can reach Omiš from their departure city in under six hours door to door.
Croatia is one of Europe's best destinations for an adventure holiday, particularly the Dalmatian coast. The Cetina River offers world-class rafting and canyoning, the Adriatic is ideal for sea kayaking and snorkelling, and the mountains behind Omiš have excellent hiking trails. It combines genuine outdoor adventure with great food, warm weather, and easy access from the UK.
Croatia is mid-range in cost compared to Western Europe — generally more affordable than Italy, France, or the UK. Our all-inclusive multi-day adventure packages cover accommodation, meals, all activities, and airport transfers, so there are no hidden extras. We also operate without agency fees, meaning you pay directly and save the typical 15–20% tour operator markup.
For an adventure holiday, Split and Omiš are a far better base than Dubrovnik. The Cetina River and Dalmatian mountains are right on the doorstep, with rafting, canyoning, kayaking, and hiking all within 30 minutes. Dubrovnik is a spectacular city but has far fewer adventure activity options and is significantly more expensive and crowded in summer.
Yes — all of our Croatia adventure holidays are designed for all ability levels, including complete beginners. Every activity is led by HGSS-certified local guides who brief you fully before each adventure. Our groups are small (8–12 guests maximum) so no one gets left behind. The only requirement is a reasonable level of fitness and a willingness to try something new.
